A window into the media executive mind

... or with this comic it's more like a porthole, but on the internet we think those mean other things these days.

Anyway, do you ever get to thinking that it's kind of silly how social-networking-focused all the media conglomerates have become these days? Not that it's not important, only that the new "Pick the next Heroes' character over your sprint phone" ploy seems like one part hula-hoop, two parts "if you have to ask, you'll never know."

Who's afraid of the Google Phone?

News of Google's plans to release a "phone" in the next year have caused a tsunami of confusion in the traditional media.

Sample TV/radio reporter:
"I don't get it: Is it like a phone??? And if it's not like a phone, then what is it??? I can only tell one thing for sure, this development is going to RUIN EVERYTHING!?!?!"

Okay, so maybe not that dyer, but it seems this week that not everyone is so positive about Google not being evil.

Virtual conference, virtually awesome

The SOA in Action virtual conference is still going on today, and if you're not right there in the virtual venue right this second, then I don't know where your priorities are, mister. I suppose like our hero here it takes some folk a while to get the hang of a virtual conference. I mean, all that conference. In virtual reality. I might have to go lie down.

SOA Alphabet Soup

After a recent industry conference, it seems that there is still some confusion over SOA and how it differs from BPM and other buzz-word acronyms (or as I like to say, bacrozyms). While it's half the battle to realize that SOA stands for Service Oriented Architecture, as distinct from Business Process Management, it's a different thing entirely to know what you're implementing when you're implementing it. This is the challenge our hero faces in this installment of Mumbo Gumbo. It looks like he needs SOA In Action and fast!
